Cet album, que nous venions tout juste de terminer, lui est d\u00e9di\u00e9. jr<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">*******<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\nIl y eut d\u2019abord Zeit Und Wetter. C\u2019\u00e9tait une pi\u00e8ce pour piano m\u00e9canique contr\u00f4l\u00e9 par informatique. Le logiciel que nous avions con\u00e7u jouait les 720 permutations du nombre 6 en les conjuguant aux donn\u00e9es m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques d\u2019une ann\u00e9e enti\u00e8re et aux les r\u00e8gles de base de la musique pour g\u00e9n\u00e9rer une pi\u00e8ce qui durait un an en continu et qui ne pouvait s\u2019\u00e9couter qu\u2019en temps r\u00e9el. En effet, le code de Zeit Und Wetter lisait directement l&#8217;horloge de l&#8217;ordinateur, y prenant constamment la date et l&#8217;heure, puisant ensuite dans un fichier les informations de temp\u00e9rature correspondantes (vent, pr\u00e9cipitation, ensoleillement, pression, etc) et les assignant aux param\u00e8tres d&#8217;une autre machine logicielle, qui comportait les principes premiers des d\u00e9cisions musicales.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Son exp\u00e9rience d\u2019\u00e9coute refl\u00e9tait ce geste banal, quotidien, que nous r\u00e9p\u00e9tons tous \u00e0 intervalle r\u00e9gulier sans vraiment y penser: prendre quelques minutes pour regarder par la fen\u00eatre la temp\u00e9rature qu\u2019il fait dehors et le temps qui coule; toujours la m\u00eame chose et jamais<span class=\"bcTruncateMore\"> pareil!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Zeit Und Wetter a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e \u00e0 quelques reprises pour des p\u00e9riodes de quelques semaines dans des espaces d\u2019art, mais comme le format \u00ab 365 jours \u00bb ne convient pas \u00e0 tous, nous en avons fait une premi\u00e8re version abr\u00e9g\u00e9e de 12 disques compacts qui pr\u00e9sentaient chacun une heure extraite de chaque mois. L\u2019heure choisie du mois de mai est incluse dans le format cd (mais pas sur Bandcamp, \u00e0 cause des restrictions de taille de fichier). Puis, dans l\u2019id\u00e9e de faire un r\u00e9sum\u00e9 du r\u00e9sum\u00e9, un instant fugitif, nous avons condens\u00e9 chaque mois en un tout petit segment \u20143 minutes \u00e0 peine, comme une photo de calendrier\u2014 pour que l\u2019ann\u00e9e tienne sur un seul disque compact, sous le titre Les M\u00e9t\u00e9ores. He passed away June 3othm 2023. This album is published in his memory.<\/p>\n<p>*******<\/p>\n<p>I<span class=\"bcTruncateMore\">t began with Zeit Und Wetter, a work for computer-controlled player piano. We developed a software that generated the 720 permutations of digits 1 to 6, which were played according to the meteorological data of an entire year and basic music theory, producing a work that lasted one continuous year and could only be listened to in real time. The code for Zeit Und Wetter read the computer clock directly and constantly to assess the date and time, then took the corresponding weather information (wind, precipitation, sunlight, barometric pressure, etc.) from a file and assigned them to the parameters of another software engine, which contained key principles of musical decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The listening experience reflected a daily, banal gesture that we all make on a regular basis without really thinking about it: looking out the window for a few minutes to check the weather and see time passing; always the same thing and never quite the same!<\/p>\n<p>Zeit Und Wetter was presented a few times in art spaces for periods of a few weeks, but as the \u201c365-day format\u201d isn\u2019t for everyone, we made an initial abridged version of twelve CDs that each presented one hour extracted from each month. The hour selected from May is included in the cd (but not on Bandcamp, given the file size exceeding the maximum allowed). Then, with the idea of making a summary of a summary, a fleeting moment, we condensed each month into a very short segment\u2014barely 3 minutes, like a calendar snapshot\u2014so that the year can fit on one CD called Les M\u00e9t\u00e9ores. Le projet trouve ici une nouvelle forme. Alors que sa premi\u00e8re publication,\u00a0 Le Piano Flou, a men\u00e9 \u00e0 quelques concerts, la plupart de ses compositions pour Disklavier qui suivirent furent des projets de studio. En 2014 Viviane Paradis, la directrice artistique du festival Mois Multi, lui a offert la chance de jouer en concert et il a profit\u00e9 de l\u2019occasion pour\u00a0 d\u00e9velopper de nouvelles pi\u00e8ces, bas\u00e9es sur l\u2019improvisation avec et dans des logiciels qu\u2019il a \u00e9crit pour le projet. While his first work Le Piano Flou, a double-cd set, led to several concert appearances, most of his following works for Disklavier have been studio projects. In 2014 Viviane Paradis, the artistic director of the festival Mois Multi, offered him the chance to play live and he jumped on the occasion to develop new works based on improvisation with and within software that he wrote for the project.
